The Environment Protection Authority took action towards the Council soon after grievances had been made about a quarry at Medowie.

The EPA says the Council dumped two hundred tonnes of illegal materials into the quarry between 1999 and 2008.

The Land and Surroundings Court was told EPA inspectors found eleven stockpiles of material containing soil, Moncler Doudoune Homme black plastic pipe, pieces of tiles, bitumen and concrete.

Every single stockpile was up to one-and-a-fifty percent metres substantial and the EPA states there was no barrier in between the rubbish and the h2o standing in the foundation of the quarry void.

The Council pleaded guilty to depositing waste without a licence and has been fined $forty,000.

In addition it will have pay $70,000 for prosecution and investigation costs.
